Cultural Spotlight Segment.  A way to learn how cultures around the world, including Canada's Indigenous communities, honour and remember their departed loved ones. That’s why The Day of the Dead Festival is honoured to count on the presence of Verna McGregor, President of the Algonquin Culture Institute, who will share with us Canada’s Indigenous Death Rituals: “Honouring Ancestral Legacies”  at George Street Plaza in the corner of George Street and William Street in the ByWard Market.

Musical presentation by the Latin rock group "Tierna Piraña" on George Street Plaza.

Special dance presentation by the international renowned "The Mexicans Folk Ballet of Toronto". This incredible ballet has participated in several International Dance Festivals in countries such as Argentina, Japan, France, Nepal, Greece, Spain, China and Italy to name a few.

Day of the Dead Procession. Wear your best Catrin & Catrina costumes and be part of the celebration. The route will begin at the corner of William Street and George Street with the participation of Mexxi-Arts giant characters as well as the amazing “Thunderous Drums of the North East of Brazil”. The second part of our programming will continue at this location.

Jose Sandoval dance presentation and workshop. Jose's contributions to salsa extend beyond teaching and performance. He has built dance communities in Ottawa by being one of the creators of Salsa at City Hall, Latin@Lansdowne, and the founder of UOSalsa (University of Ottawa Salsa Team). The presentation will take place at  George Street Plaza.

  • Bilingual Babies activities

  • Face painting (complementary from 12:00 to 2:00 pm) After that time, there will be a charge by the make-up artist.
